The ISPRS event 2nd<\/sup> International Conference of Geomatics and Restoration (GEORES 2019)<\/strong> organized by the Politecnico di Milano, in conjunction with the Universit\u00e0 degli Studi Firenze\u00a0(UNIFI) and\u00a0Politecnico di Torino\u00a0(POLITO) took place in Milan from 8 \u2013 10 May 2019.<\/p>\n

Under the topic \u201cCultural Heritage: challenges, new perspectives and technology innovation.\u00a0Towards informative content models and beyond\u201d over 150 international examples, especially on HBIM, archaeology, and virtual reconstruction were presented orally and in two poster sessions.<\/p>\n

Ferdinand Maiwald represented the junior research group HistStadt4D as chair of the session\u00a0\u201cContent based eXtended REALITY (AR\/MR\/VR)\u201c and additionally, with the collaborative paper \u201cGeo-Information Technologies for a multimodal Access on Historical Photographs and Maps for Research and Communication in Urban History\u201d by Ferdinand Maiwald, Frank Henze, Jonas Bruschke and Florian Niebling presented in the session \u201cHeritage documentation in the PRE-DIGITAL ERA\u201c.<\/p>\n

The contribution in combination with the oral presentation was honored with the \u201cBest Paper Award<\/strong>\u201d by the committee of the conference.<\/p>\n
